It is a “fact” that renewables avoid CO2 emissions, but only when they produce electricity. The installation itself needs coal and concrete to make steel towers. It has been computed that wind turbines have a carbon footprint equivalent to 1,000 tonnes CO2/MW installed nameplate capacity. Production of solar panels is even more polluting/kWh produced. Recycling (end of life) materials is a major environmental and economic problem when replacing all farms every 20 years. We hear frequently that renewable farms can power 100,000 houses. It must be understood that this implies continuous production at nameplate capacity, not actual production. We currently have several renewable farms around Alberta and we have good data for their actual performance in our climate. The Alberta Electric System Operator (AESO) maintains a website which lists the real performance of every power plant in Alberta (http://ets.aeso.ca/).

Safety officials and workers in Georgia and Louisiana tell Deadline workers there are often encouraged not to file accident report, and that many injured workers comply for fear of being blacklisted.
This change in Kinmenâs status became possible when the Peopleâs Republic of China, newly recognized by the United States and most other nations, initiated its âReform and Openingâ under Deng Xiaoping. In the late 1970s and 1980s, Deng had decided that China was going to join the global economy, and Taiwanese were welcomed to the mainland as Chinese-speakers with business acumen and money to invest. In 2001, to accommodate the increasing flow of people across the Taiwan Strait, the two sides initiated the first major experiment on Kinmen, along with Taiwanâs other coastal islands: direct post, transportation, and trade links to mainland China. The âMini-Three-Linksâ experiment was a success, and the links were extended from Kinmen another hundred miles to the island of Taiwan. Kinmen is, in some ways, a good testing-ground. It has deeper historical ties to China than Taiwan proper, and has never stopped communicating with it. Even in the mid-1970s when tensions were high between the two sides, a few Kinmen locals have told me they continued the ancient habit of rowing small fishing boats over to the city of Xiamen for a meal and a change of scenery. No one could tell they were not locals.
I don’t know the details of Mr. Orr’s financial status, however, I do know he’s pioneered some amazing work, and inspired others to do the same.
Addressing the statute of limitations, the Seventh Circuit noted that plaintiffs did not contest that their claims were now outside of the relevant limitations period. The original claim was filed in 2008 and the longest period from any state antitrust statute six years barred any claim filed after 2014. Accordingly, the IPPs relied on tolling or relation back arguments. To relate back, plaintiffs needed to show that their claim, under Federal Rule of Civil Procedure 15, "arose out of the conduct, transaction, or occurrence set outor attempted to be set outin the original pleading."6 Where the IPPs’ original complaint focused on purchases of steel pipes, tubing, and sheet from distributors and resellers, their new complaint included dozens of household and commercial products making virtually every American consumer and business a putative class member. Plaintiffs argued that their original product definition included "any consumer steel product" but the Court found that the IPPs’ original complaint was limited to products manufactured at steel mills, rather than a host of downstream consumer and industrial products where steel was merely an input. Thus, the Court determined the original definition was insufficient to put defendants on notice of this wider claim. That the IPPs had issued thirdparty subpoenas to consumer product sellers Whirlpool and John Deere was similarly insufficient to put defendants on notice that the IPP claims encompassed all these manufactured end products. While defendants complained about this overbroad discovery in their original motion to dismiss, the Court was not persuaded that defendants had ever been properly notified or as IPPs suggested were aware of this broader claim "all along."7 Thus, relation back was unavailable under Rule 15.
Yes, it was — we’ve ratcheted up, it was 37% of total revenue. And so — and 36% in 2017. So we — as the overall business has grown considerably, we still ratcheted up that percentage. We’re targeting, as we said, 38% for 2019 and we’re going to be at 40% for 2020. And the step up in 2020 is related to our investment that we talked about in La Porte and adding the brand new capability to do the complete assemblies in midstream valves, that facility will be completed in mid-2019. That’s a very large market that we expect to play a bigger percentage in. So our goal is to get to that 20% in 2020 — 40% in 2020.

The potential bounty at the bottom of the sea was first realised as early as 1873 when HMS Challenger, a British ship, hauled up “several peculiar black oval bodies which were composed of almost pure manganese oxide” while on a voyage to explore the Canary Islands in the North Atlantic. At the time manganese was used to bleach cotton for use in textiles, one of England’s largest industries.
